Year 6 Netball- BJSSA League

After a long day of netball at AJIS nine girls had to switch back into high five mode for the finals night of the BJSSA netball league at St Gabriels. The team were drawn against against Chesham in the semi finals who had impressed earlier in the week with their controlled play. Once again, our girls were composed from the start and some excellent shooting enabled us to pull away into an early lead. Accurate passing from Freya Burke and interceptions from Annabel Walker sealed the semi final victory 16-3 in our favour. We were through to the final.

Lowercroft Primary School were our opponents and certainly up to the challenge. A tense start from both teams meant it took a few minutes for the first goal to be scored in favour of Lowercroft who pulled away to an early lead. Some calm play from Sadie Myers enabled us to draw level and we went into the final quarter 6-6. The final six minutes proved eventful with interceptions again from Annabel Walker enabling us to edge ahead before Lowercroft pulled back. In the dying seconds, we managed to secure a final goal meaning that when the final whistle blew we had won 8-7. Bury Netball Champions 2017!

Well done to all girls who have played in the bury league this year:
