Bury Grammar School for Girls is pleased to launch a number of Scholarships aimed at nurturing girls’ talents in particular areas.
Scholarships available for Sept 2016 entry are:
- Kay Scholarship
- The Bury Grammar School Scholarship for Maths
- The Bury Grammar School Scholarship for English
- The Bury Grammar School Scholarship for Sport
- The Bury Grammar School Scholarship for Music
- Other Scholarships as identified by the Admissions Process
Scholarships are available for Year 7 girls only who are chosen for their ability and performance in the entrance exam, interview and application form. Our scholarships are awarded to pupils who we feel have the potential to flourish and to play a leading role in school.
The Kay Scholarship is named after Roger Kay who was one of the founders of Bury Grammar School. His name is given to the prestigious award made to the girl who achieves the highest overall score in the entrance examination. The Kay Scholar receives her award at her first Prizegiving.
Our aims with the Scholarships are to:
- Recognise potential
- Encourage girls to play a leading role in school
- Nurture girls’ talents
- Encourage girls to act as school ambassadors
- Provide a small contribution to fees
Scholarship winners are identified through our Admissions Process. In the first instance, our application form for entry to our Senior School asks parents to tell us about their daughters' particular talents and interests. Our examination and interviews will provide further opportunities for us to discover more about the strengths and abilities of candidates which make them stand out. More information on the Admissions process is available here along with the application form. Successful scholars will be notified when they receive their offer letters to BGSG which are posted on Monday 29 February. The school will continue to offer bursary support for those requiring fee assistance, more information is available here.
